Triangle Coaching Staff

At Triangle, we seek to hire "good people first" who share a love for the game of volleyball and a passionate desire to invest in young people as they work to realize their athletic potential.

Triangle also believes strongly in creating an environment where everyone, from any background, can passionately celebrate sport and help young people develop. We seek and support diversity and recognize diversity as an asset for our culture, coaching staff, and athletes.

- 30 high school state championship titles.
- 46 total bids to USAV Junior Nationals, including 23 Open-level qualifications.

Since 2013

Richard Tharrington

Tharrington joined Triangle in 2013 and has coaching experience at the youth developmental, high school (Apex HS, Cardinal Gibbons & NRCA) and club levels. He has coached in the 11s-14s age groups as a head and resource coach and has been highly successful in both Carolina Region and interregional competition. In addition, he has led and assisted numerous camps and clinics, including Triangle's Youth Volleyball Program (YVP). He holds a Master's degree in coaching education and sports science from Ohio University.

Since 2020

Lauren Tharrington '17

Tharrington, a member of Triangle's class of 2017, joins the coaching staff starting with the 2020 season. She spent eight club seasons in a Triangle uniform as a setter and competed on teams at the Black, Blue and White level. She helped set her 2016 17 White team to a runner-up finish at the Big South Qualifier and a top 20 finish at AAU Junior Nationals.

Sarah Thomas

Thomas hails from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, where she played volleyball since she was in elementary school. She played club volleyball at Synergy as a versatile front row attacker, seeing time as a middle blocker/opposite hitter and an outside hitter. For her high school, she was on the varsity team for all four seasons and earned numerous accolades, incuding Rookie of the Year, All-State team, All-District and All-Conference. Following her prep career, she enrolled at NC State University and competed on their top club team for four seasons.
