Martin is originally from Dallas where she played club (setter) for Skyline Juniors and helped lead Skyline 16 Black to a USA division National Championship in 2015. She played for Waxahachie HS where she produced 695 kills, 847 assists, 126 aces and 91 blocks in her three-year varsity career. Martin was recruited to East Carolina University and earned Freshman of the Year honors (2017) for the American Athletic Conference and All-AAC Second Team honors both her Freshman and Sophomore seasons. Martin transferred to Kansas State for her senior year and earned All-Big 12 Conference Second Team honors. She graduated Kansas State in 2021 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology. Upon graduation Martin transferred to UCLA to finish her NCAA eligibility and pursue a Masters degree in Education - Transformative Coaching and Leadership. At UCLA Martin received PAC-12 Honorable Mention and AVCA Pacific South All-Region Honorable Mention after leading the Bruins with 1,199 assists. She ranked fourth in the PAC-12 with 10.52 assists per set.

During her junior year at ECU Martin was the head coach for East Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club 15 Select. Martin has also actively coached camps at her high school alma mater and for her college programs.
