Samantha Perillo

Perillo is originally from Wilmington, Delaware and recently relocated to the RTP area. Perillo has been playing volleyball since she was five years old and has competed at the high school, club and Division III collegiate level. At Wilmington Friends High School she played varsity for four seasons for the Quakers under head coach Barbara Trinsey. Perillo was named Second Team All-State as a sophomore, junior and senior, and she helped the team earn the Barbara Vierra Sportsmanship Award all four years. She played club volleyball for Brandywine Volleyball Club and was recruited to Division III Stevenson University in Maryland. Perillo had a decorated career as a four-year starting libero at Stevenson, including being named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year and the Middle Atlantic Conference Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015. She was a 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee and a three-time AVCA Division III Honorable Mention All-America honoree and a three-time All-Commonwealth Conference First Team selection.

After completing her indoor eligibility, Perillo spent two years competing on the Stevenson University’s Beach Volleyball varsity team, from 2016-2017, while completing graduate school.  She then moved into coaching, becoming the Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach at Stevenson from 2017 until 2019. Perillo graduated from Stevenson in 2014 with a B.S. in Business Communications and completed her M.S. in Communications Sciences in 2017.

SIGNIFICANT PLAYING ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Perillo competed at Stevenson University [Division III] where she was a four-year starting libero and was a three-time AVCA Division III Honorable Mention All-America selection. She was a 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee and the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015.
  • Played club volleyball for Brandywine Volleyball Club and high school for Wilmington Friends High School, where she was named Second Team All-State as a sophomore, junior and senior.
  • Played on the Stevenson University Beach Volleyball team from 2016-2017 following her undergraduate indoor career.

SIGNIFICANT COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Served as the Triangle 14 Black assistant in her first season on staff in 2020. She helped 14 Black to top ten finishes at MAPL Raleigh and MAPL Hampton in the Blue Division [14s-16s], the highest finish for any 14u team in the division.
  • Coached in college at her alma mater Stevenson University, where she was the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach from 2017 until 2019.
