GYM SCHEDULE

Today

  1. 6:00pm - PL-Wood#

Tomorrow

  1. 8:00am - PL-Wood*
  2. 9:00am - AP Groups [4 courts]
    • Start time: 9:00am
    • End date: Saturday, September 20th
    • End time: 1:00pm
    • Published: Monday, March 31st
    • Advanced Placement Groups is for qualified [via application] high school aged girls [15-18]. There are two components: AP Positional training and AP PACT [Power, Agility, Core Training]. Athletes can opt to participate in both or just one or the other.

For the positional training athletes must possess the following at a minimum:
      • Be high school volleyball players grades 9-12.
      • Possess a mastery of positional fundamentals
      • Have significant high level playing experience [i.e. club volleyball]
      • Be in solid physical condition
      • Possess a strong work ethic

Athletes should not apply if they do not meet the minimum requirements. Contact info@trianglevolleyball.org for more information. Our Xtreme clinics are a great alternative to AP Groups for athletes who do not meet the minimum requirements or are not accepted into AP Groups.

General rules for AP Group participation:
      • Interested athletes must APPLY for AP Groups. Deadlines for application are firm. We cannot accept late applications.
      • We anticipate tremendous demand for AP Groups [especially in the Fall prior to club tryouts]. Additionally, we have ample but finite court and staff availability to conduct AP Groups. For these reasons we cannot guarantee an athlete's acceptance into AP Groups. It is possible that prior AP Group participants may not be accepted into Fall sessions. NOTE: we will do our best to accept as many qualified applicants as possible.
      • Athletes must attend the AP Group for their PRIMARY position only. There are no exceptions.
      • The actual time on your AP Group training will depend on your Group placement. You must be flexible and attend at the time instructed, no exceptions.

How to apply for AP Groups?
      • Given the combined academic and athletic demands of the high school season we will be handling AP Group applications on a rolling basis.
      • The application period for each AP Group date is 10pm Sunday night PRIOR to the AP Group session date.
      • We will process the applications on Monday and post rosters on our website by noon Tuesday.
      • To apply visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/APGroupsFALL

NEW for the FALL: AP Group notifications will be posted by noon the TUESDAY PRIOR to the AP Group session date on the Triangle website on the AP Groups page, http://www.trianglevolleyball.org/training/mshsclub-level/ap-groups-advanced-placement.

      MORE on AP Groups...
      AP Positional Group training involves:

      • Game-like, competitive format
      • OPTIONAL AP-PACT add-on [see below]

With each position AP Group there is an OPTIONAL AP-PACT add on.
      • AP-PACT will offer next level physical conditioning training with an emphasis on power. AP PACT utilizes introductory weight lifting techniques, vertical jump training and additional strength and conditioning components to provide a college preparatory workout experience.
      • The AP-PACT add-on will occur in the hour immediately following the athlete's AP Group positional session.
      • Attending AP-PACT prior to your AP Group positional session is discouraged and requires special approval.

Next level physical training and conditioning specifically for volleyball is the cornerstone of POWER weight lifting. These one-hour sessions are part of a series that addresses the technical aspects of primary lifts including bench press, squats, dead lifts, standing press, and bent barbell row. Sets, repetitions, and weight are proportionate to the fitness and strength level of participants. High coach to athlete ratios insure quality technical feedback and safety.

      General Information:
      • Participants must be high school age for the fall of the current year.
      • Participants must possess a solid base of core strength and fitness.
      • Class sizes are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
      • POWER1 and POWER2 are held in the PACT area of Triangle’s Suite 130 gym.
      • Age is not a determinant in placement of athletes in POWER1 and POWER2.

POWER2 is for those individuals who have successfully completed POWER1 and targets increased training intensity and the development of power in the athlete. Successive sessions of POWER2 become the basis of a regular and progressive volleyball specific weight lifting program. POWER2 requires athlete participation twice per week [exception may be during high school volleyball season].

Notes: Athletes will advance to POWER2 only at the discretion of POWER staff. It is not unusual for an athlete to attend POWER1 more than once.

Lead Instructors: Jim Freeman, Corey Johnson

Comparing POWER to AP PACT: AP PACT also addresses beginning weight lifting as well as vertical jump training. AP PACT is less frequent and is part of a more general athletic performance strength and conditioning program designed specifically to introduce next level physical training to athletes.

    • 'PLAY THE GAME' SERIES, Sundays: 530-7 PM
For YVP and middle school students, grades 5-8.

SCHEDULE: September 7-October 12 [6 sessions]. There is no make up for missed classes.

Overview: These 6 session series are designed to teach players to ‘play the game’. The ‘Play the Game’ Series is designed to emphasize the critical elements of reading, ball control, and court movement in smaller group games, specifically 4v4. Each session will consist of a skill emphasis that will be incorporated into a series of small group games that are competitive in nature. Different levels will be hosted on multiple courts.

Background: The nature of the 6v6 game at younger ages requires a significant investment of time on proper alignment, serve reception patterns, and systems of play. While important in team development, players in this age group, playing instead 4v4, will greatly benefit from smaller games and a heavier emphasis on Pass-Set-Hit sequences, and proper skill mechanics.
